Passing Of Ladies Auxiliary Member Lynn Dill - E.V.F.D

November 20, 2010

Age 70 of Lewes, DE, passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2010, at Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience in Philadelphia, PA. Mrs. Dill was born on August 21, 1940 in West Chester, PA, daughter of the late John Joseph McCormick and Annabelle Hiddleson McCormick. She attended Goldey Beacom College before moving to the Rehoboth Beach area in the early 60"s. For many years she served as a line cook beginning with her parents restaurant known as "The Little Kitchen" in Rehoboth Beach and for many other eateries like the Country Squire and the Rehoboth Diner. Many would also remember her from working at the Dairy Queen in Lewes, DE for many years until 2001. Lynn was a member and held many offices in the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Firemen's Ladies Auxiliary, Ellendale Volunteer Firemen's Ladies Auxiliary, Sussex County Volunteer Firemen's Ladies Auxiliary and the Delmarva Volunteer Firemen's Ladies Auxiliary where she was a Past President. She was currently serving as Chaplain of the Delmarva Volunteer Firemen's Ladies Auxiliary. She was very active in the community having assisted as a Cub Scout and Girl Scout Leader. She was the recipient of the Rehoboth Beach Chamber of Commerce Personality of the Year in 1986 and the May Hall McCabe Award for community service also in 1986. She was an avid Cape Henlopen School District Sports fan where many students knew her as "Momma Dill." Lynn especially enjoyed roses, the theater and plays and the graceful beauty of the American Bald Eagle. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Dill. Surviving are her loving husband Sudler Dill; five children: Beth Kessler, of Bangor, PA, Paula Dill of Rehoboth Beach, DE, John Dill of Lincoln, DE, Pamela Musser of New Castle, DE and Sudler Dill Jr. of Elkton, MD; and nine grandchildren: Earl Kessler Jr, Jarrett Kessler, Dale Kessler, Corinne Kessler all of Bangor, PA, Jordan Dill, Derek Dill, Austin Dill, Lindsey Dill all of Lincoln, DE and Chase Evans of Rehoboth Beach. DE. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday December 4, at 2 pm, at the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Department, Rehoboth Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contribution s are suggested to the Rehoboth Beach Vol. Fire Dept., P.O. Box 327, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
