On Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 16:33 hours the Ellendale Fire Company along with mutual aid partners from Milton Fire Department Inc. Sta. 85, Memorial Fire Company Sta 89, and Sussex County EMS were alerted for a residential structure fire in the 13000 block of Spicer Road in Ellendale.
75 Command arrived on scene at 16:36 and advised fire showing from all four sides on the second floor. Engine 75-3 arrived and deployed two 1 3/4” attack lines to the second floor. Crews encountered a heavy fire load with involvement in the second floor and attic. Tanker 75-4 arrived simultaneously with Engine 3 and began water supply operations. Engine/Tanker 75-8 arrived as the second due engine company and deployed a third attack line as well as augmenting water supply operations.
Engine crews from Milton Fire Dept. assisted with extending a line into the attic and Ladder 85 took position and opened the roof. Tanker 89 from Memorial Fire Co. in Slaughter Beach arrived and filled the final water supply position.
Engine 75-5 from our Lincoln station continued the fire attack in the attic and crews were rotated out through the incident until salvage and overhaul was completed.
