On Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 23:58 hours the Ellendale Fire Co. was alerted for a rescue company to assist Greenwood Fire Co. on an MVC with entrapment involving a tractor-trailer. Rescue 6 responded with a crew of 8 firefighters under the direction of Asst. Chief Foster. While enroute, 78 Command requested the Sussex County Technical Rescue Team be alerted, bringing Tech Rescue 1 from the Lincoln City station with four firefighters under the direction of Chief Hamilton.

Numerous hydraulic and power tools from Rescue 6 were placed in service during the duration of the extrication which took approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes to complete. Crews also assisted with vehicle stabilization, establishing a landing zone, and patient care. After arrival, an EMS unit from Ellendale was also requested, bringing Ambulance B-75 to the scene.
