Passing of Firefighter Donnie Jones

It is with our deepest and sincerest regrets to announce that firefighter Donnie Jones has answered his last alarm. Donnie was an active member with the Ellendale Vol. Fire Dept. for 15 years. Donnie held the positions of assist chief, fire captain, and fire recorder in the past. A full fireman’s funeral will be held on Saturday, December 8th, 2012 at the Ellendale Volunteer Fire Company. Visitation will be from 11am-1pm, with funeral services immediately following. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends during this difficult time.

Obituary-

ELLENDALE - Donnie Wilson Jones passed away on Saturday Dec. 1, 2012. Mr. Jones was born in Milford, Del., the son of Norman, Sr. and Sarah (Gillespie) Jones of Millsboro. Mr. Jones was a Business Tech for Comcast for 6 years. Mr. Jones was Past Assistant Chief of the Ellendale Volunteer Fire Company and a member of the National Auctioneer Association. He was a fan of the Washington Redskins, New York Yankees and Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his favorite number was 2. In addition to his parents, Donnie is survived by his wife of 13 years Heather (Crew) Jones; three children, Anthony and Logan Crew and Ashley Jones, all of Ellendale; grandparents Wilson and Anna Gillespie of Lincoln; sister Kerrylyn Bryant of N.M.; two brothers Andy and Jay Jones of Ellendale; in laws, Howard and Lynne Crew, ,Mom-Mom, Patricia Crew; and aunt, Denise Crew all of Ellendale; best friends, H.C. Crew and Tommy Berry both of Ellendale and a host of extended family. Funeral Services with Full Fireman's Honors will be held on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 at 1 p.m at the Ellendale Volunteer Fire Hall, Main Street, Ellendale, where friends may call after 11am. Burial will be in Ellendale Cemetery. Flowers are accepted or contributions may be made to a fund for his children at C&B Bank of Milford, Attn: Alberta Johnson, 698 A North DuPont Hwy, Milford, DE 19963.
